Rs 15 lakh looted from Ratnakar Bank in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Apr 5 (UNI) Four unidentified robbers looted Rs 15 lakh from Ratnakar Bank located at Vyapar Peth in Shahupuri area here this morning.

The incident took place when the bank had just started its daily operations, a senior police officer said.

As usual, bank's peon Vasant Dinkar Salokhe brought a bag containing Rs 15 lakh cash from the strong-room located on the ground floor and kept it in cashier Suresh Patil's cabin, the officer said.

As soon as the peon left the cabin, a person entered and decamped with the cash, while his three accomplices engaged the cashier and two other staff members to divert their attention, he said.

When the cashier realised the cash bag was missing, he informed bank manager Prakash Patil, who called the police.
