Rajnath seeks blessings of Lord Jagannath ahead of his Yatra
Puri, Apr 5 (UNI) BJP President Rajnath Singh today offered prayers at the 12th century Jagannath Temle and sought the blessings of Lord Jagannath for the success of his Bharat Suraksha yatra which he would launch from Bhubaneswar tomorrow.
Talking to newspersons after the darshan of Lord Jagannath, Mr Singh said his yatra was meant for ensuring social and cultural security for the people of the country.
The BJP president who also hoisted a flag atop the Neelachakra of the temple, said he prayed to god to guide him in his Yatra like Lord Narayan guided the chariot of Arjun.
Mr Singh visited the Balramkot Mutt with saints and sadhus of different mutts and spend some time there. His visit to the Mutt assumed much significance as Uma Bharti had spent her early religious career in the Mutt.
The Balramkot mutt also played a significant role in the movement for construction of Ram temple by late Ayodha Das.
Mr Singh will visit the temple again tomorrow morning before leaving for Bhubaneswar to commence his Yatra. Several senior state BJP leaders accompanied Mr Singh to the Jagannath temple.
