Jaya to ensure justice to farmers in Cauvery issue

Tiruvarur, Tamil Nadu Apr 5 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who commenced her election campaign from here last evening, covering Thanjavur, Tiruthuraipoondi, Mannargudi, Pattukottai and Orathnadu, urged the electorate to caste their votes in favour of AIADMK.

Ms Jayalalithaa, while addressing an election campaign meeting said she would ensure justice for the Cauvery delta farmers.

The Chief Minister said the AIADMK Government had placed a blueprint for creating a Cauvery River Authority with powers to implement the Tribunal's award.

She said her Government had moved the Supreme Court to get Karnataka to release the water due to Tamil Nadu.

She alleged that the DMK poll manifesto was silent on the Cauvery issue.

Ms Jayalalithaa also listed the various welfare schemes launched by her Government to benefit the poor in Tiruvarur district.
