Cairns Energy to conduct seismic survey in Barmer
Barmer, Apr 5: British oil majors Cairns Energy will start a seismic survey in Barmer district from next month.
The survey will be conducted in the region between Mangla and Saraswati, two existing oil wells.
According to sources, Cairns Energy, after tracking down oil wells Mangla, Saraswati, Bhagyam, Vijaya in 2005, have decided to perform a seismic survey of the region.
Cairns will collaborate with a Poland-based survey company Geo Physica Toroon to conduct the survey. The company has already begun talks with farmers from April 1 whose fields would be affected in the survey on the issue of compensation and permit. The talks are likely to be completed by April 15.
The seismic survey reports are expected to be complete by May 5.
The survey will be conducted in 30 regions.
