Cabinet gives nod to appointment of teachers in hilly areas

Imphal, Apr 5 (UNI) The Manipur cabinet has agreed to engage teachers on contractual basis to fill up vacant posts in the hilly areas of the state.

Official sources said here today the cabinet met last evening chaired by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh.

The All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) had called off the economic blockade on National Highway 39 after the government agreed to fulfil their demands.

The cabinet has approved appointment of a full-fledged director (hills) in the education department and medical staff in the health department.
