Bills to enhance salaries of legislators introduced in HP
Shimla, Apr 5 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today introduced the HP Legislative Assembly (Allowances and Pension of Members) Amendment Bill in the Assembly.
The bills seek to hike the salaries of the legislators from Rs 4,000 to Rs 8,000 per month and increase their free travel limit facility from 80,000 kms to one lakh kms per annum.
They also seek to do away with upper limit of Rs 13,000 for payment pension to former MLAs. These provisions would entail an additional expenditure of Rs 34 lakh per annum.
Mr Singh also introduced two other bills seeking to enhance the free travel facility limit of ministers, the speaker and the deputy speaker also from 80,000 kms to one lakh kms putting additional burden of Rs 5.30 lakh on the state exchequer.
