Annual Vairamudi fest to draw lakhs of devotees to Melkote

Mysore, Apr 5 (UNI) The traditional Vairamudi festival will be held at the famous Lord Cheluvanarayana Swamy temple at Melkote in Mandya district of Karnataka on April seven.

Lakhs of devotees were expected to throng the temple town to witness the crowning of the presiding deity, Sri Cheluvanarayana Swamy, with the Vairamudi (diamond crown) on Friday night.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy was scheduled to attend the festival and announce several development projects for the temple town.

Devotees not only from Karnataka, but also the neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, would take part in the festival.

Mandya District Incharge Minister N Cheluvarayaswamy supervised the arrangements. KSRTC would ply special buses from various district on the occasion.
