Mumbai EOW officers keep Dalmiya waiting

Kolkata, Apr 3 (UNI) The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) officers of the Mumbai Police did not turn up here today for the second and final round of investigation into the misappropriation of 1996 World Cup funds charges against former BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya.

''We have waited here in the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) premises from morning as per the directives of the Court,'' Dalmiya told reporters.

''As of now we have a verbal intimation that they are not arriving. But, we can't take any chance. So, we waited for two hourstoday,'' he said.

Asked to react on reports that Mumbai police had enough evidence and hence did not come to Kolkata, he said, ''The information is with the media and I do not have any such information.'' An EOW team of the Mumbai Police were scheduled to arrive here today for further questioning of Jagmohan Dalmiya, former BCCI secretary S K Nair, former treasurers Kishor Rungta and Jyoti Bajpai after after they were grilled for four days from March 27 in Mumbai.

The former BCCI officials were facing allegations of misappropriation of funds during the 1996 World Cup and were scheduled to be interrogated here from today till April 5 as per the directions of the Bombay High Court.

Dalmiya and Jyoti Bajpai were present at the CAB office today and would come again tomorrow morning, while Kishore Rungta is expected to arrive here this evening.
