Yediyurappa reviews International Airport project

Bangalore, Apr 1 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today said the estimated cost of the International Airport project coming up near Devanahalli was expected to escalate by another Rs 450 crore.

Speaking to newspersons here after a review meeting of the Bangalore International Airport Limited, he said the escalated cost would be met through raising additional debts. The passenger traffic flow was expected to increase by four million, totalling to eleven million, at the new airport, he added.

Asserting that the project would be completed as scheduled in April 2008, Mr Yediyurappa said air terminal building would be expanded keeping in view the traffic and the airport would have one more runway so that 37 aircraft could take off at any given point of time.

He said the project cost, earlier pegged at Rs 1411.80 crore, would now be around Rs 1867.80 crore.
