TN Govt making arrangements for salaries in view of SBI strike

Chennai, Apr 1 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government will disburse salaries and pension for the month of March to its employees and pensioners ahead of the start of indefinite strike by State Bank of India (SBI) staff from April 3.

For government employees and pensioners drawing salary or pension under the electronic clearing system (ECS) through State Bank of India, money would be credited to their accounts by today or tomorrow.

For those not covered under ECS and being paid through district treasuries/sub-treasuries operating with SBI, the drawing and disbursing officers concerned would collect the cheques from the district treasury/sub-treasury and encash them to through SBI branches. Their salary/pension would be disbursed in cash.

In respect of those covered under ECS through banks other than SBI and sub-treasuries operating accounts with other banks, disbursement would be done as usual, an official release said.
