Russia dispatches plane with rescuers to Iran
Moscow, Apr 1: Russia today dispatched an Il-76 freighter aircraft to Iran with a team of rescue workers to provide relief material to the quake-hit region of Lorestan.
''The Iranian side has already agreed to accept our aid,'' the spokesman for the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry Viktor Beltsov told RIA Novosti news agency here.
The plane will take rescuers and a makeshift hospital to the western province of Lorestan that was hit by a powerful earthquake yesterday killing 70 people and injuring more than 1200.
Mr Beltsov said two more Il-76s with tents, blankets, food, electric radiators, and a makeshift hospital under an agreement signed between Russia nad Iran will soon be dispatched.
