PDS releases list of party candidates in WB Assembly elections

Kolkata, Apr 1 (UNI) The Party for Democratic Socialism (PDS) today released its list of 13 candidates for the coming five phase assembly elections in West Bengal.

Among the candidates, PDS General Secretary Samir Putatunda has decided to contest from Diamond Harbour assembly constituency in south 24 Parganas district, while his party colleague Mr Subhash Basu will fight from Chakdaha (Nadia).Natabar Bagdi will contest from Hura (Purulia), Mr Abdul Goni Sarkar from Pandua (Hooghly), Mr Zakir Hussain from Narghat (East Midnapore), Mr Aftab Ahmed from Uluberiah-South (Howrah), Mr Bappa Das from Mandir Bazar and Mr Meherul Islam from Joynagar (both South 24 Parganas), Mr Karibul Haque from Lavpore (Birbhum), Mr Nabyendu Kahato from Falakata (Jalpaiguri), Mr Satyeswar Satik from Ghatal(West Midnapore), Mr Bagbul Islam from Nadanghat (Burdwan)and Mr Ashish Roy Choudhury from Murshidabad, a party release here tonight said.

Incidentally, PDS is not a constituenct of the 13 member opposition alliance in the state (West Bengal Demoratic Front) and has decided to go it alone to open its account in the 294 member house.
