City court sentences 4 to life imprisonment for robbery and murder

New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) A city court today sentenced four people to life imprisonment for brutally murdering a 30-year-old-man and robbing him of Rs 400 in Kalkaji three years ago.

Patiala House Court Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Vinod Kumar held Salim, Sunil Shethi, Mujibal and Zafaruddin guilty of murdering Manpal and robbing Rs 400 from him and sentenced them to life imprisonment.

The court further slapped a fine of Rs 1000 on each of the convicted persons.

Baburam, the cousin of the deceased and also the complainant said that he along with his cousin Manpal and another person Radhey Shyam were going towards Okhla 'Sabji Mandi' area when they took shelter in a mother dairy in Kalkaji due to heavy rain on August 2, 2003.

The convicted people also came there and took shelter at the same place. A scuffle took place between the two parties. They attacked Manpal with a knife who died on August 3, one day after sustaining serious injuries.

All four were convicted under sections 302 (Murder), 394 (Robbery) and 34 (Common intention to commit a crime) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
