CEC appeals to Assam voters to use ballot fearlessly
New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon today appealed to voters in Asom to come out in large numbers and exercise their right to vote fearlessly and according to their free will.
The poll for electing a new legislative assembly will be held in two phases -- on April 3 and 10.
''I also fervently appeal to all political parties and candidates to observe highest standards of electoral ethics and morality on this solemn occasion to strengthen democracy in the country,'' said Mr Tandon.
Adequate police forces, including central paramilitary forces in large numbers, have been deployed in all constituencies after careful assessment of requirements of each constituency and in each polling area.
Voting has been made simple by providing electronic machines in each polling station where one can record a vote by a mere click of a button in complete secrecy.
The EC has made identification of each voter compulsory at the polling station. For this, a large spectrum of documents have been prescribed.
