18 cases of Govt flats on rent through forged papers, 2 arrested
New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) In a sensational revelation, police dug out 18 cases of government flats being rented out through forged 'possession slips' with the arrest of two government employees including a Assistant Audit Officer (Estate) in the Nirman Bhawan here.
Ishwar Singh (37) was arrested along with a suspended Class IV employee Brahm Prakash alias Topiwala (38) by the sleuths of the 'Anti-Fraud and Cheating Section' of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), according to the police.
The arrests made on the complaint of Deputy Director, Directorate of Estate, which stated that eight cases of government accomodation possession through forged documents had come to it notice.
The accomodation possessions were taken in Lodhi Road, Kidwai Nagar, Minto Road and Timarpur, by presenting fake authority slips with the CPWD.
During investigations it came to light that the two accused, along with others, hatched a conspiracy to take possession of government flats and put them on rent against handsome rent and advance. The amount collected by them as 'advance' was about rupees seven lakh.
Later, ten more such cases were found during the course of investigations, police added.
While Brahm Prakash is under suspension for the last three years, Ishwar Singh is involved in two other cases of fraud.
