Lucknow, Mar 31 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government will lodge a case and also serve notice to the BSP to pay for the damage caused to the city roads, amounting to Rs 100 crore, by its activists during today's party workers' meet here.

Addressing a news conference here, PWD minister Shivpal Singh Yadav said the government had laid ''modern roads'' in Lucknow incurring an expenditure of about Rs 300 crore.

''Even some metros in the country lack such quality roads.'' Asked if BSP supremo Mayawati would also be booked in the matter, he maintained the case would be lodged against all the persons, ''who instigated the party activists to damage the roads.'' Mr Yadav claimed the roads were extensively damaged by digging for installing poles and breaking the black-top for the meet. ''It will cost around Rs 100 crore to repair them.'' He informed that PWD officials were already assessing the actual damage caused to roads.

The minister alleged the BSP activists even clashed with officials when asked not to damage the roads.
