Tension in AP town after burning of Jagjivan Ram statue

Nizamabad, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 31 (UNI) Tension prevailed here town after unknown miscreants set fire to the statue of former Union Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram in the main city centre.

Dalit organisations held a protest rally to condemn the act.

They demanded a thorough enquiry and stringent punishment to the offenders.

Meanwhile, opposition TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu sent a message condemning the act from Asom where he is participating in the election campaign. He wanted stringent action against the culprits and steps to ensure that such incidents would not recur. UNI JRK VD DB2338
