Sensex at new high of 11,352 pts, Reliance churns out big volume
Mumbai, Mar 31 (UNI) The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today opened with a gap of 18 points at 11,325 as compared to the last close of 11,307.
Sensex was trading with a gain of 31 points at 11,338 at 1130 hrs.
It touched a new high of 11,352.19 points in the early morning trade.
Reliance Industries was up by 0.92 per cent at Rs 802.50, the volumes were huge on the Reliance counter with more than 10 crore shares traded so far.
Most of the sectoral indices were trading in the green at this hour.
BSE Capital Goods index was up by 1.89 per cent; Consumer Durable index was up by 2.39 per cent; BSE Auto index was up by 1.49 per cent ; Metal index was up by 1.28 per cent.
The BSE smallcap index was also up by 1.49 per cent and BSE midcap index was up by 1.34 per cent.
The top gainers on the Sensex were - BHEL, Cipla, Bajaj Auto, NTPC, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, ACC, Hero Honda, SBI, Tata Power.
The losers on the Sensex were TCS, Ranbaxy, Hndusta Lever, ONGC, Bharti Tele., Wipro, Larsen&TOubro, Infosys, ITC and Hindalco.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) S&P CNX Nifty was trading at 3,422 with a gain of four points, as compared to the last close of 3,318 at 1145 hrs. Earlier the Nifty opened higher at 3,420 as compared to the last close of 3,418.
