Patna, Mar 31 (UNI) Political activities gained momentum after the issuance of notification for the by-election to Patna(West) assembly seat which fell vacant due to the sudden demise of Navin Kishore Prasad Sinha, BJP MLA from the area.
According to state election office, nomination for the by-election to the said seat could be filed till April 6 while scrutiny would take place on April 8. Withrawal of nomination could be made by April 10.Polling would take place on April 24 and counting of votes on April 27.
BJP has alreday declared Nitin Navin, son of the departed MLA Navin Kishore Prasad Sinha, as its official candidate for the assembly constituency, while other political parties have also begun their exercise to select suitable candidates.
BJP Candidate Navin Kishore Prasad Sinha had emerged victorious in the husting by defeating Congress candidate Rajesh Kumar by a record margin which was highest in assembly elections held in October-November 2005.
