RBI employees demonstrate against dubious company
Kolkata, Mar 31 (UNI) About 500 employees of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) sat on a day long dharna here today to protest the outsourcing of important jobs to an alleged dubious company.
Shouting slogans against the alleged attempt of privatisation of the Banking sector by the Centre, the employees under the banner of the Reserve Bank Employees Association (RBEA) vehemently protested against the recent appointment of one '' National Payment Corporation of India'' for jobs relating to cheques and other instrument clearing operations.
Describing it as a 'dangerous move' of the union Finance ministry a number of senior leaders of RBEA, including its All India Secretary S S Ram, and local leaders of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) demanded immediate withdrawal of the government's outsourcing move.
A memorandum in this regard was also submitted to the Regional Director of RBI by a RBEA delegation.
Incidentally, similar demonstrations were also held in other parts of the country including near RBI offices in New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.
