Prosecution chooses not to examine hotel staff in Salman case

Mumbai, Mar 31 (UNI) The prosecution today chose not to examine five witnesses in the hit-and-run case involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan in which one person was killed and four others injured at Pali Hill here on September 28, 2002.

The five witnesses were summoned to the court today for examination but the prosecution chose not to examine them as they were ''not material witnesses'', additional police prosecutor Gulab Nagarale said.

Adv Nagarale prayed to the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate J B Pankhe that he be allowed to omit examination the witnesses as they were not ''material witnesses''.

The court granted the permission and adjourned the matter till April 12.

The five witnesses, who were summoned today but not examined, were employees of the hotel where the actor had his dinner on the day of the accident.

Ravindra Patil, former bodyguard of the actor and prime witness in the case, and another witness have already been examined so far.
