Prohibitory orders imposed in K'nataka town following violence
Bangalore, Mar 31 (UNI) Prohibitory orders under section 144 of criminal code have been imposed in the coastal town of Bhatkal in Karnataka and 50 people arrested following the breakout of violent incidents between two groups in which one person was killed.
Uttara Kannada District Superintendent of Police S Ravi told UNI the prohibitory orders would be in effect till Sunday morning.
Police have arrested more than 50 people in this connection.
Mr Ravi said additional forces have been deployed from neighbouring districts to tighten the security.
The town witnessed clashes between two groups since Wednesday following the disappearance of two statues.
