Political leaders neglecting Asom: AASU

Guwahati, Mar 31 (UNI) The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) today lambasted the political leaders for 'neglecting' the problems of Asom.

The AASU said the political leaders would have to confront the AASU if they fail to meet their demands.

In a joint press conference here, AASU President Shankar Prasad Roy and General Secretary rpt General Secretary Tapan Kumar Gogoi said all the political parties and candidates had failed to meet the deadline for clarifying their stands on the students' body's demands.

Earlier, the AASU had issued a statement asking the political parties and candidates to come out with their stand regarding 42 demands like implementaion of Assam Accord, infiltration and flood.

However, only Asom Gana Parishad candidates Prabin Boro and Phani Pathak had responded to the statement in individual capacity, the AASU leaders informed.

The AASU maintained that it would continue to be a non-political body and take the leaders to task for failing to solve the problems facing the state.
