Noted poet Keshab Mahanta passes away

Guwahati, Mar 31 (UNI) Noted poet and educationist Keshab Mahanta died here early this morning. He was 80.

Mahanta, an Assam Sahitya awardee, died of cardiac failure at 2.45 am.

Mahanta, who retired as the publication officer of Gauhati University, composed over 100 songs.

He was the receipient of the Soviet land award. He also received various other awards for his contribution towards the Assamese language.
