NBW issued against Dawood's brother for Jain murder

Mumbai, Mar 31: Special TADA court today issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's brother, Anees Ibrahim Kaskar, and Sunil Sasidharan Nair, in connection with the Pradeep Jain murder case.

The prosecution today filed an application before special TADA Judge P V Bavkar for issuing a NBW against the two.

Meanwhile, underworld don Abu Salem, extradited to India from Portugal to face trial in the 1993 serial bomb blasts case and Pradeep Jain murder case, and Mohammed Mehndi Hassan and Riaz Siddiqui other accused in the case), were produced before the TADA judge at around 1430 hrs following which the court extended their judicial custody till April 28.

So far, five persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of Jain. The other two include - Naeem Khan, who is in jail in connection with some other criminal case and builder Virendra Jhamba (79), who is presently in hospital owing to ill-health.

Special Public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said now that the court has issued NBW against the two wanted accused in the Pradeep Jain murder case, Interpol will be informed about it so as to extradite them to India to try them in the case. If they do not surrender, then court will take appropriate action to declare them as absconders and trial will be carried out in their absence.

Investigations in the case so far have revealed that Salem and Anees plotted the murder of city-based builder Pradeep Jain with the help of other co-accused during March, 1995.

The court today also granted permission to Hassan to meet his wife, as sought by his counsel outside the court room, for a few minutes.

Two unidentified gunmen had shot builder Pradeep Jain on March 7, 1995 outside his house Brij Kamal in Juhu, a western suburb of Mumbai.
