New Delhi, Mar 31: Motorola India today tied up with financial services provider GE Money for zero per cent financing on its handsets in India.

The scheme is available for Motoslim L6, SLVR L7, Motorazr V3, RAZR V3i, A 780, and the forthcoming PEBL U6.

Consumers will be able to purchase Motorola handsets through 200 Motorola dealers across the country.

''The plan is to cover 70 major cities across the country by the end of 2006,'' Motorola Inc corporate vice president for high growth markets, mobile devices business, Allen Burnes said.

The tie up is the latest link in our many initiatives to re-define channel sales while enabling broader access to best in class products for consumers, he added.

With the mobile handset market in India growing in double digits, it is slated to become the world's second largest handset market by 2010.

The Indian mobile segment is set to cross a subscriber base of about 300 million by 2010 and touch the 500-million mark by 2015.

The Indian cellular market grew by a record 47 per cent in 2005, taking the subscriber base past 80 million. In January, the operators added five million more subscribers.

''We are investing heavily in both China and India as these are the two biggest markets,'' Mr Burnes said.
