Law Secretary retires, Named Law Commission Vice Chairman

New Delhi, Mar 31 (UNI) Union Law Secretary R L Meena retired this afternoon and was appointed Vice Chairman of the Law Commission of India, it was announced this evening.

He began his career as an advocate and ''worked in different capacities in the Rajasthan Judicial Service, Indian Police Service and the Indian Legal Service,'' the Law and Justice Ministry said.

He served in the Indian Legal Service for about 26 years and was Secretary, Law and Justice Ministry for 10 years, it said.
