Kerala HC dismisses plea for appointment on CIAL board

Kochi, Mar 31 (UNI) Kerala High Court today dismissed an appeal filed by the General Secretary of the shareholders association of the Cochin International Airport Ltd. (CIAL) Thomas Abraham seeking a direction to appoint him as a director of CIAL representing small shareholders.

Dismissing the plea, a division bench comprising Chief Justice V K Bali and Justice J B Koshy said the petitioner had no legal right to get himself appointed as a director of the CIAL without the written support of the other shareholders.

Mr Thomas Abraham had submitted that under Section 20 of the Companies Act, small shareholders' representative is entitled to be appointed as a director of a company. A single judge of the court had earlier dismissed the writ petition.
