India, Sweden to launch Jt. Com. on cooperation in S and T

New Delhi, Mar 31 (UNI) India and Sweden will launch a Joint Committee on Cooperation in Science and Technology during the upcoming visit of Swedish Education, Research and Culture Minister here from April 2 to 5.

The Swedish Minister, Leif Pagrotsky, who arrives here on Sunday for discussions with Indian leaders on strengthening research cooperation between the two countries, will have talks with Minister for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal.

The two Ministers will review the progress in relations between the two countries in the field of S&T and discuss future areas for strategic coopoeration.

''During the meeting in New Delhi, the two Ministers will take stock on progress and discuss strategic future areas of collaboration. To further strengthen the partnership, the Ministers will launch a Joint Committee on Cooperation in Science and Technology,'' a statement issued by the Swedish embassy here said today.

He will also met Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh to discuss strengthening of cooperation in higher education and Culture and Tourism Minister Ambika Soni.

The Swedish Minister will also visit some leading S&T institutions in Delhi and interact with Indian business, cultural and political communities.
