Haryana clinches ONGC Junior National Boxing championship
Panaji, Mar 30 (UNI) Haryana clinched the 38th ONGC Junior National Boxing Championship by grabbing four golds against Services Sports Control Board which finished second and Delhi third in the finals which concluded at Calangute grounds late this evening.
The Services had a haul of three golds and an equal number of bronze medals. Sures of Andhra Pradesh was named the best boxer of the championship and Santosh Harijan of Goa the best loser. Santosh lost in the finals to Hemant Shah of Services.
Vijay Thakur of Himachal Pradesh was adjudged the best referee and Harpreet Singh of Punjab the best judge.
The Goa Amateur Boxing Association, which organised the event, will host the Asian Junior Boxing Championship on October 6 here, Col Muralidharan Raja, secretary of the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation, announced.
