Faridabad, Mar 31 (UNI) Bravery or cockiness? Hard to understand what prompted Rahul Dravid to hand the ball to opener Gautam Gambhir, whose leg-break has never been tested at the international level, with a demolisher like Kevin Pietersen at the other end today.

Nevertheless, Gambhir followed his captain's instructions only to concede 13 runs in an over, which started with a wide and ended with a boundary through the covers.

Already struggling with a poor batting form, the Delhi player found himself bowling to Pietersen in the 38th over.

At a time when India had managed to keep the English smasher under control the decision to toss the bowl to Gambhir was somewhat unusual and just what Pitersen needed to break free.

To his credit, Gambhir managed to bowl two dot balls but not before bowling a no ball and being hit for four off his third delivery, which he tried bowling from around the wicket.

The last bowl went down the leg-side and Pietersen helped it through the covers, completing Gambhir's eight-ball debut over.
