First ever permanent Lok Adalat to be established at Hisar

Chandigarh, Mar 31 (UNI) The first ever permanent Lok Adalat pertaining to Public Utility Services is being established at District Courts, Hisar.

The adalat will be inaugurated by Justice D K Jain, Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court. Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda will be the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony tomorrow.

It will take up matters relating to transport services, road, postal, telegraph or telephone services, supply of power, light or water to the public by any establishment, system of public conservancy or sanitation, service in hospital or dispensary, insurance services and pending or instituted cases in the various districts.

The Member Secretary of the Haryana State Legal Services Authority said Additional District and Sessions Judge (retd) Jai Dev Chandna has been appointed as its Chairman and D N Kaliraman,superintending engineer (retd) and S S Doon, chief engineer (retd) has been appointed as members of this adalat.

Any person can file an application before the Permanent Lok Adalat of his division headquarter in its revenue location by mentioning his or her grievance where upon the opposition party shall be summoned by the Adalat and attempt will be made to reach a solution.

If a settlement is reached, an agreement shall be drawn up, which shall be duly signed by the parties and an award in terms of such agreement shall be passed. If, however, the parties fail to reach at an agreement, the Permanent Lok Adalat shall decide the dispute on merits.
