Fever grips 154 villages in Maharashtra: Mundada

Aurangabad, Mar 31 (UNI) Reiterating that the present fever outbreak in various places in the State is not life threatening, Maharashtra Health Minister Vimal Mundada today said that about 23,784 people have been affected by the fever in 154 villages in the State.

Off them five villages have been affected by chicken gunyia and 12 by dengue fever, Ms Mundada said.

Addressing a press conference here late this evening, Ms Mundada said that these 154 villages are mainly in Aurangabad, Latur, Nashik and Akola districts.

According to National Institute of Virology, Mungi, Balamtakli and Madhi villages in Ahmednagar district have been affected by dengue while chiken gunyia has been reported from five places in Malegaon Parbhani and Purna, Ms Mundada said.

An outbreak of dengue has been reported from Nagansur and Kumtha villages of Solapur district in Western Maharashtra and Deogaon- Rangari, Golatgaon, and Paithan villages of Aurangabad district and Jomegaon (Nanded), and Padoli and Kati in Osmanabad district of Marathwada region.

Ms Mundada said the present outbreak of fever is not a life-threatening and the the patients recovers within a period of three to twelve days.

The Health Minister said health authorities in the State have been making all round efforts to control the spread of the fever, that has been witnessed after a long gap in the State.
