Court directs CBI to produce documents in Lalu's case
Patna, Mar 31 (UNI) The Special CBI court here today directed the CBI to produce documents which formed basis of the chargesheet filed against Railway minister Lalu Prasad in a case of the multi-crore fodder scam.
It was argued by the counsel of Mr Prasad through a petition filed before designated judge Munilal Paswan that chargesheet against his client in the case was based on distorted facts.
Original documents which were basis of the chargesheet should be produced before the court during the hearing of discharge petition filed by Mr Prasad in the case, the counsel added.
After hearing both sides, the judge directed the CBI to produce the documents and fixed April 25 next for hearing in the case.
The case is related to fraudulent withdrawl of about Rs 46 lakh on the basis of fake bills in animal husbandry department of Bihar from Bhagalpur and Banka treasuries. The case was registered in 1996.
