Composite culture to shape Manipur's destiny: MP Meinya
Imphal, Mar 31(UNI) Lok Sabha MP T H Meinya today called upon the people of Manipur, a state with composite culture, to be united.
Speaking at a seminar on 'Systematisation and Rationalisation of Cultural Institutes in Manipur' organised here by Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), the MP said, ''There are about 32 tribes in the state. Despite low population, there were various communities with diverse culture in the state.'' DESAM members said, ''We need to codify cultural traditions to ensure systematic education on these issues.'' ''Most cultural institutes are not recognised by any University hence the certificates are useless,'' he said.
Even the government music college was not affiliated to any University and the premier dance institute Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy had not attained the status of a Deemed University, he said.
