Jaipur, Mar 31 (UNI) Prince Charles today took a walk down the lanes of this heritage Pink City, to get a feel of the unique culture and the hustle and bustle of this vibrant city.

Braving the heat and bright sun, Prince Charles seemed inquisitive and curious to get a feel of the things when he winded his way through Chowkri Modi Khana in old city. He was welcomed by the residents and vendor of the area with flowers and tilak.

Chowkri Modi Khana is a quaint little locality nestled between Kishanpole and Chaura Rasta in old city. The Prince passed through the road called Ajabghar Ka Rasta.

Charmed with traditions still kept alive by the people here, Prince Charles stopped and talked with jalebiwalas, mithai walas, the bartan wala (utensil maker) and the numerous other vendors who have been working here for ages.

The jalebis dipped in milk, the ghewar prepared for the Gangaur festival wowed the Prince. He was specially attracted to the colourful bangle shop, which displayed an array of kaleidoscopic bangles and was quite intrigued when told about the process of bangle making.

The houses on both sides of the road painted with typical Rajasthani style paintings got Prince Charles hooked. He met and mingled with school children who sang and performed for him.

Breaking barriers, the British Prince soaked in the ambience and mixed freely with the common man proving that he has a way with the masses who were more than eager to please the royal guest.

The walk was arranged by Jaipur Virasat Foundation, headed by Anokhi's Faith Singh, which is working to revive and restore the lost glory of this heritage city.
