States asked to take safety measures for rath yatra
New Delhi, Mar 31: The government is making elaborate security arrangements for the rath yatras of BJP leaders L K Advani and Rajnath Singh starting from April 6 in view of the intelligence reports that some anti-national or terrorists organisations could attack the yatras.
Home Secretary V K Duggal told reporters here today that the Centre has received intelligence reports that some terrorists could attack these rath yatras, so it has alerted all the states through which the yatra passes to take adequate security arrangements to ensure its safety.
The safety of these leaders is very important so the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of concerned states concened have been advised to take adequate safety and security measures, he said.
The BJP headquaters have also been alerted and the home ministry has asked the party officials to take adequate precuationary measures.
A detailed programme of these rath ratras have also been asked for so that necessary steps could be taken, he said.
Mr Duggal, who headed the coordination committee meeting of the naxal affected states, said that the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and DGPs of varoius states through which the yatra would proceed have been sensitised and directed to take adequate safety and security measures.
