Sensex touches new high of 11,301 pts in morning trade

Mumbai, Mar 30 (UNI) The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today opened with a big gap of 58 points at 11,241.78, as compared to the last close of 11,183.

Sensex was trading with a gain of 102 points at 11,286 at 1115 hrs.

It touched a new high of 11,301.19 points in early morning trade.

With over Rs 300 crore foreign fund inflow in the equity market on Tuesday, the sentiments in the market were bullish.

Most of the sectoral indices were trading in the green at this hour.

BSE Metal index was up by 2.07 per cent. The health care index was up by 1.69 per cent.

The BSE smallcap index was also up by 1.71 per cent and BSE midcap index was up by 1.11 per cent.

The top gainers on the Sensex were - Ranbaxy, Wipro, Bharti, Hindalco, Tata Motors, Hero Honda, Tata power, ITC.

Ranbaxy was up and buoyant on the news of new acquisition in Romania, the scrip traded with a gain of 5.07 per cent to Rs 432 with a gain of Rs 20.85.

Telcom pack was on fire this morning led by MTNL, which was showing good gain of 3.93 per cent to Rs 194.40.

Bharti Televentures was also up by 2.27 per cent to Rs 403.15, it went up to Rs 406 in early morning trade before cooling a bit.

Yesterday, VSNL had gained 9.97 per cent and it gained three per cent this morning trading at Rs 485.60.

The two losers on the Sensex were State Bank of India and ICICI Bank.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) S&P CNX Nifty was trading at 3,396 with a gain of 42 points, as compared to the last close of 3,354 at 1118 hrs. Earlier the Nifty opened flat but shot up to the new peak very soon.
