Rs 503 Crore cleared for infrastructure in Hyderabad slums
New Delhi, Mar 30 (UNI) In a major step to provide the Hyderabad poor with basic facilities in their settlement areas, the Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation Ministry has cleared Rs 503 crore worth of projects.
These facilities will come up in slums and houses constructed under Valmiki Ambedkar Awas Yojana.
The projects also include construction of dwelling units under the Integrated Infrastructure and Housing Development Scheme.
In its first meeting in New Delhi on March 24, the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) of the sub mission on 'Basic Services to the Urban Poor' under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, gave its approval to three projects costing Rs 11.43 crore , to provide storm water drains and sewerage in the slums of the city.
The committee sanctioned over Rs 33 crore worth of projects for providing electrification, water supply, and sewerage facilities for houses constructed under Valmiki Ambedkar Awas Yojana.
It also cleared Rs 458.15 crore worth of projects to construct dwelling units and to provide electrification, water supply and sewerage facilities under the Integrated infrastructure and housing development scheme.
The Central share for these five projects under the Basic Services to the Urban Poor is over Rs 251.57 Crore and the first installment is over Rs 62.89 Crore.
The Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation Ministry will send its sanction to these projects to the Department of Expenditure, Finance Ministry soon for the release of the first installment of funds.
Central assistance will be released in four installments depending upon the implementation of the sanctioned projects and adhering to the reforms mandated.
