Haryana govt enforces regulations under Epidemic Disease Act
Chandigarh , Mar 30 (UNI) The Haryana government has enforced regulations under the Epidemic Disease Act 1987 to handle medical cases where the state might be threatened with outbreaks of dangerous epidemic diseases like malaria, dengue and Japanese encephalitis.
These regulations were inforced as the government felt that ordinary provisions of law which are in force, are insufficient for the purpose, a spokesman of the state Health Department stated today.
Under this regulation a Health Inspecting Officer who due to certain reason cannot discharge his duties due to excessive workload may appoint District Malaria Officer,Senior Medical Officer, Biologist, Senior Malaria Inspector, Multi Purpose Health Supervisor, Multi Purpose Health Worker, Surveillance Worker and Field Worker to discharge such functions. Every official, so appointed would, so far as such functions were concerned would be deemed to be an Inspecting Officer.
He said that the Inspecting Officer might enter premises for the purpose of fever surveillance, provide treatment, anti larveal measure, fogging or spray. He might also authorise other people of his team to enter such premises alongwith him as considered necessary.
The Inspecting Officer might put any question to ascertain whether there was any reason to believe or suspect that such person was or might be suffering from malaria, dengue of Japanese encephalitis. The Inspecting Officer may order premises to be sprayed with insecticides.
