CM termed Udhampur-Baramulla railway as "vision for Khushhali"
Jammu, Mar 30 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said the Konkan Railway project between Udhampur to Reasi is a step towards achieving the vision of "Khushhali".
Mr Azad said railway connectivity between Kashmir and other parts of the country is significant and of paramount importance.
The Chief Minister, while participating in a meeting later, was appraised that work on the track is being done speedly and the Konkan Railway Corporation has been also assigned the execution of 90 kms stretch of Katra-Laole section of Udhampur-Baramulla rail project.
He was also informed the work on two largest bridges across the river Chenab and Anji has already started and the arch bridge over river Chenab would be the tallest bridge in the world having a height of 360 meters. Out of 90 kms stretch 72 km of the track will pass through tunnels.
The Chief Minister advised the railway authorities the commitment by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's Railway Minister, Lalu Prasad made at Udhampur public rally while inaugurating Jammu-Udhampur railway line is required to be implemented in letter and spirit.
The Konkan railway should utilize all the available resources and infrastructure for the completion of track between Reasi to Banihal within two years and IRCON may be advised to speed up work on Banihal -- Baramulla track, Mr Azad said.
