Badal alleges disconnection of water supply in his constituency
Chandigarh, Mar 30 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Parkash Singh Badal today alleged that the water to the rural units of his native village Badal and many other villages of his Lambi Assembly constituency has been disconnected.
''This is an inhuman as well as a criminal act. It is a serious case of human right violations,'' Mr Badal said in a statement issued here, accusing the congress government for such as act.
He demanded immediate reversal of these orders, resumption of power supply and punishment to the guilty officials.
It may be recalled that the Punjab government has ordered disconnection of power supply to the rural water supply units these village on account of non-payment of electricity bills by the village Panchayats.
''The ground water in this area is not fit for consumption and drinking water is supplied only through these rural water supply units. Hence, all the residents of this area have been compelled to take contaminated water which is likely to cause serious health problems,'' he added.
Mr Badal said such pressure tactics would not help the state Chief Minister Amarinder Singh in any way.
