Sensex touches new high of 11,157.75 pts in opening move

Mumbai, Mar 29 (UNI) The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today opened with a gain of 17 points at 11,103, as compared to the last close of 11,086.

Sensex was leading with a gain of 63 points at 11,149 at 1133 hrs.

It touched a new high of 11,157.75 points in early morning trade.

With Rs 550.20 crore foreign fund inflow in the equity market, the markets were trading with positive sentiments.

Most of the sectoral indices were trading in the green at this hour.

BSE IT and TECk indices were in the positive zone with gain of 1.66 per cent and 1.82 per cet. Health care index was up by 1.54 per cent.

The BSE smallcap index was too up by 1.82 per cent and BSE midcap index was up by 0.98 per cent.

The top gainers on the Sensex were - Ranbaxy, Infosys, Satyam Computer, Wipro, ITC, Cipla, Hindalco, BHEL, Maruti and Bharti.

The top losers on the Sensex were - Tata Power, ACC, HDFC, Hero Honda, Tata Steel, Dr Reddy's Lab, NTPC, ONGC, Bajaj Auto and Grasim Industries.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) S&P CNX Nifty was trading at 3,337 with a gain of 12 points, as compared to the last close of 3,325 at 1124 hrs.

Era Constructions got listed on the NSE today at Rs 310 as against the issue price of Rs 292.30 of Rs 10 share. The scrip touched a high of Rs 311.20 and a low of Rs 300.55. It was trading at Rs 306 with a gain of 4.69 per cent at 1116 hrs.

Volumes were moderate with over one lakh shares traded so far.
