Rs one lakh cr investment in food processing in NE envisaged
Kohima, Mar 29 (UNI) Union Food Processing Ministry will investment Rs 1,00,000 crore in the food processing sector in the north eastern region in the next 10 years, according to Union Minister of state for Food Processing Subodh Kant Sahay.
Speaking to mediapersons at the Dimapur airport yesterday, Mr Sahay stressed on the need for an activity centre at the block level to have better linkage between the farming community and the industries.
He disclosed that the technical mission of the agriculture ministry and mini-mission of the food processing industry gives enough funds to produce and process.
Stating that the North East Agri Expo, 2006, at Dimapur is the second such big event being organized after Guwahati, he said such activities facilitate the markets, buyers, sellers and industries to become partners.
