RBI makes special arrangements for deposits of tax
New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI) The Reserve Bank of India will arrange for additional counters as well as extend the working hours on March 31 to facilitate acceptance of taxes from assessees.
With a view to obviating the inconvenience in depositing the taxes, the branches of the State Bank of India, its associate banks, all public sector banks, HDFC Bank Ltd, ICICI Bank, UTI Bank, IDBI Bank and a few branches of the J&K Bank are authorised to collect taxes.
''Taxes may be deposited either in cash or by cheque'', the RBI said in a release here today.
