Pak pilgrims honoured at Aam Khas Bagh in Sirhind

Fatehgarh Sahib, Mar 29 (UNI) The 'jatha' of 199 pilgrims from Pakistan were today honoured at Aam Khas Bagh in Sirhind by Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dr Harbans Lal and Fatehgarh Sahib Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Talwar on the concluding day of the three-day annual 'Roza Sharif Urs'.

On reaching Aam Khas Bagh, they were accorded welcome by Giddha and Bhangra troupes. The pilgrims were honoured with robe of honour, shawls and sweet boxes.

A colourful cultural programme was also organised to mark the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Harbans Lal said the relations between both the Punjabs on either sides of Indo-Pak border had improved with the efforts of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.

He said the bus service from Amritsar to Lahore and Nankana Sahib and the Indo-Pak Punjab Games were the clear sign that people of both the countries want peace.

Fatehgarh Sahib DC Jaspreet Talwar said the district administration was making every effort to provide all facilities to the pilgrims. She accepted certain demands of the Pak pilgrims.

In his address, Abdul Razak Mujjeddi, the leader of the Pak 'jatha', appreciated the arrangements made by the district administration for their visit. He said they did not face any problem during their visit.

He demanded that they should be brought to Roza Sharif through buses from Lahore and not through train.

Former Minister and Deputy leader of 'jatha', Meer Haji Tareen, and others including Mahboob Elahi, Om Parkash Tangari, Sadhu Ram Bhatmajra, Joginder Singh Maini also expressed their views on this occasion.
