No trace of China tourist in the state
Srinagar, Mar 29: Jammu and Kashmir police remained clueless about Chinese, tourist Haunge Sui Chin who is missing since March 22 afternoon, official sources today said.
Police have issued an appeal in the local media about the missing tourist.
It said any person providing any clue about Ms Chin would be suitably rewarded.
Fifty-two-year-old Chin, arrived here on March 22 and stayed in a houseboat in the famous Dal Lake. However, she left immediately for an Internet cafe and did not return.
The houseboat owner later informed the tourist police and a massive hunt was launched to trace her in the city, particuarly in the Dal Lake area.
Howver, after failing to trace Ms Chin, a missing case was registered at the Nehru Park police station.
All the belongings of Ms Chin, including her Chinese passport issued on September 9, 2003 vide number 210008739, have now been kept at the police station.
She had one-month visa issued vide number U136992 for staying in Kashmir, the sources said.
Police parties, rushed to different parts of the Valley, remained clueless about the missing tourist, sources said, adding a number of people were questioned but all in vain.
They said almost all tourists places, including Gulmarg and Pahalgam, were searched but the whereabouts of the tourists were still not known.
A police officer said all the forest areas of Zabarwan, Dachigam and other nearby hills were also searched.
He said the interior of the Dal Lake was also thoroughly searched but without any success.
The Embassy concerned in New Delhi has been informed about Mr Chin.
More than 2000 foreign tourists had visited the Valley during this winter.
