City court sentences four to 7 years RI for robbery

New Delhi, Mar 28 (UNI) A city court today sentenced four persons to seven years imprisonment for committing robbery in the Lodhi colony area of South Delhi three years ago.

Patiala House Court Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Kumar held Ravi, Manoj Tomar, Babu Chauhan and Laxman Singh guilty of robbing one Lalita Mehtani and sentenced them to seven years imprisonment.

The court further slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 each on the convicts.

On September 15, 2003, Lalita Mehtani (50), resident of Lodhi colony, was robbed of her wrist watch, a gold chain and a purse containing Rs 250.

They had also threatened her.

All of them were arrested on September 17, according to the prosecution.

They were all convicted under sections 392 (Robbery) and 34 (Common intention to commit a crime) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
