BJP promises to root out corruption, unemployment
Kolkata, Mar 29 (UNI) The West Bengal BJP today promised to weed out ''corruption'' from the state politics and solve the menace of growing unemployment and unabated infiltration from Bangladesh if returned to power in the coming Assembly election.
Releasing the party's election manifesto here, BJP state President Tathagata Roy alleged since corruption, unemployment and unabated infiltration from Bangladesh had now become the three most crucial problems facing the state, they had decided to deal with them sternly.
Armed with the latest figures, issued by the Union Government to drive their points home, Mr Roy, flanked by BJP state general secretary Rahul Sinha, however, made it clear the party was not at all against the Indian muslims, as projected by other major political parties, but was against the unabated infiltration of minorities from Bangladesh creating a huge demographic imbalance in all the bordering districts of the state for the past few years.
Squarely blaming the ruling Left Front for the ''mess'', Mr Roy also severely criticised the industrial policy of the state government. Instead of creating more jobs, they seemed to be more interested in attracting more FDIs in West Bengal.
As a result the state had one of the largest educated unemployed youth in the country with their number already crossing the 1.6 million mark last year, the BJP state president said.
On the issue of corruption, Mr Roy also promised to work tirelessly to root them out from all sections of state politics.
'' We shall leave no stone unturned to meet the objective, '' Mr Roy said when asked about the rationality behind his claim.
He also said in order to ensure smooth victory of all the 32 party candidates in the coming elections as a major partner of the Oppositon West Bengal Democratic Front, the party had constituted a 15-member high power ''Poll Organising Committee'' under his Chairmanship.
About the announcement of the final list of party candidates, the BJP state president said the remaining list of eight candidates would be announced by the party Central Election Committee in New Delhi tomorrow. The party had already announced the last of 24 candidates a few days ago.
