Ban on random homoeopathy practice
Guwahati, Mar 29: The Asom government has passed directives to stop the mushrooming of unregistered practice of homoeopathy in the state.
The government has notified that a recognised qualification and registration either from the State Homoeopathic Board or from the Central Council of Homoeopathy was mandatory as per the Assam Homoeopathic Medicine Act 1955 and Homoeopathic Central Council Act 1973.
A government notification said as far as recognition of any system of medicine was concerned, only three councils under the Centre-- Medical Council of India, Central Council of Indian Medicine and Central Council of Homoeopathy-- are authorised to recognise the system.
No other council has any authority to recognise any degree related to medical sciences nor do they have any authority to issue any such degree or to affiliate colleges running courses related to these degrees.
The state councils related to the above three councils only have the authority to register the medical practioners and no other council can issue any registration certificate to practice any type of medicine anywhere in India, it said.
The term doctor can be used by practitioners of recognised system of medicine, it added.
